26,500 sq. ft. energy efficient, multi-tenant medical center located in Rockton, Illinois.
Sorce Architecture was asked to design a sustainable facility to meet the energy demands of today’s medical providers and the newly adopted 2012 Illinois Energy Code. Prairie Centre’s envelope is designed with continuous insulation to eliminate thermal breaks and features a curtain wall system that utilizes high-performance glazing to reduce operational costs.
The entire center was designed to create a “park-like” atmosphere for its visitors. The large open spaces allow for the use of bio-swales and rain-gardens which not only add beauty to the development but also sustainably manage on-site stormwater runoff.
Together, the building and site design create a comfortable, low impact development to serve its visitors now and for decades to come.
